BIO

Chignard Simon is the author of Open Data, comprendre l'ouverture des données publiques (Open Data: Understanding the opening of public data, Fyp Publishing, April 2012).

And independent consultant and trainer, he accompanies public and private organizations in their data development and dissemination strategies. He runs the website www.donneesouvertes.info.

He is president of Bug, a NGO dedicated to social and digital innovation, and vice-president of Rennes’ barcamp La Cantine.

The open data movement has reached a significant and ever-growing number of states and governments. From New York to Paris, from Nairobi to Singapore, an increasing number of territories offer open sets of data. To fully understand the stakes of this movement, one of the first techno-political ideas to spread at the network speed, one has to track its origins.
Le mouvement d'ouverture des données publiques concerne aujourd'hui un nombre grandissant d'Etats et d'administrations. De New York à Paris, de Nairobi à Singapour, de plus en plus de territoires proposent des jeux de données en open data. Pour comprendre les enjeux de ce mouvement, l'une des premières idées techno-politiques à se diffuser à la vitesse des réseaux, il faut revenir sur ses origines. Il se trouve en effet au croisement de plusieurs cultures.
