Zhen HUANG is the vice president of Shanghai Jiaotong University, also acting as the Chinese dean of ParisTech SJTU Elite Institute of Technology.Prof. Huang obtained his Bachelor's Degree from the Mechanical Engineering Department of SJTU in 1982 and doctoral degree in 1988. He had been Deputy Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vice-Dean and Dean of the School of Power and Energy Engineering, and Vice-Dean of the School of Mechanical ad Power Engineering. He is now also Director of the Energy Institute of SJTU. Prof. Huang has been doing research in the fields of combustion and drainage control, oil alternative and new energy automobile, and air pollution control for many years. He has been in charge of a number of programs in the National "973 project", the National Natural Science Foundation projects, National Research Projects and Shanghai Key Scientific Research Projects, winning one first prize and two second prizes of provincial and ministerial sci-tech awards. In 1998, he was awarded the Government's Special Subsidy for National Experts; in 1999, he was appointed Accredited Professor of the Ministry's Cheung Kong Scholars Program; and in 2000, he obtained funding by the National Accomplished Young Scientists Foundation and was selected into the first and second layers of the national Millions-of-high-Caliber-People Project. Prof. Huang's major social positions include: Vice-Chairman of the China Engineering Thermophysics Association, Chairman of Shanghai Internal Combustion Engine Association, Executive Vice-Chairman of Shanghai Energy Research Association, Vice-Chairman of the International DME Association, Vice-Chairman of Asia Liquid Atomization Association, also Associate Editor of the international journal "Frontier of Energy and Power Engineering." As Vice-President of SJTU, Prof. Huang is responsible for fostering talented people, i.e. undergraduate, graduate, continuing and international education, as well as recruitment of students.
